So today I thought I’d post about my
handbag contents, specifically in the summer, as I get a lot of friends asking
what essentials I carry around with me and how to narrow down what you really
need in the warmer months. Now I’m definitely not the sort of girl to carry a
small handbag around with me, so when I choose which bag to take in the
mornings, I go big, hence today’s choice of clutch being the size of a breezeblock.
I don’t know what it is about small bags. They’re too small to fit the
essentials in and they’re so easy to place down and lose. So today I have my
huge green ASOS clip shut, which is great because I like to take the world with
me when I leave the house, as you’re about to find out.
Starting with the obvious, my phone (kudos
if you understand the case, surprisingly not many people do!), my passport for
ID, headphones, sunglasses, purse, comb as my hair is long it gets so knotted, hand
wipes, a pen (just in case), a mirror, thousands of keys, body spray, my
business card holder and usually my camera, but I was using it at the time.
As for makeup and skincare, I like to keep
it simple. I have my drugstore powder in my bag all the time so that if it
breaks, which is likely in my huge bag, I can easily get another one from the
city. I use Maybelline’s Fit Me pressed powder as it does a really good job at
smoothing over foundation and it’s handy to touch up if I’m glistening a
little. Speaking of which, I also bring along Maybelline’s Dream Lumi Touch
Highlighting Concealer as it’s my favourite, cheap and the pen is easy to use
if you’re on the go and need correcting. My travel size Soltan sun spray is
easy to fit in my bag and sinks in more quickly than a lotion. I also carry my
handy small bottle of REN Moroccan Rose Otto body cream for my hands. It’s not
too rosey but its quite thick, and as I wash my hands a lot, I need my skin
topping up!
I know it may seem like I carry a lot of
lip products, and that’s because I do. I must be insane as I usually take a
minimum of 3 with me. As it has been a super hot 28 Celsius today, with a few
hours of thunderstorms, I didn’t bother with lipstick. Instead I have my summer
alternative of Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm in the colour Pink Blossom. This is
my go to if I’m in a rush or don’t fancy a bold lip. Accompanying that is my
mango Burt’s Bees nourishing lip butter – smells good, tastes good and hydrates
for AGES. In emergencies I have a Nivea SPF balm, but I only use this if I’m in
dire need as it tastes a bit nasty if you have to lick your lips. Next up is my
balance Me Rose Otto Intensive lip salve. This plumps, smoothes and comes out
as more of a gel/gloss than a balm stick. Lastly, I have the new Revlon Super
Lustrous lip gloss in Pinkissimo. Its my new favourite gloss. It smells
gorgeous, tastes good and shows up really well on your lips on its own and especially
well over my Mac lipstick in Please Me. So that’s my bag/essentials/whole
house. Have you tried any of the products mentioned? Or can you recommend me a
good SPF balm that tastes good? Maybe it’s time to minimalize my bag…
