In the summer months, I feel it’s really
important to look after your skin. That’s not means to say that the rest of the
year your skin should be ignored, but we generally expose our skin more to the
harsh light of day. So for that reason, my June favourite is, quelle surprise,
a skin care brand.
HAND FOOD HYDRATING HAND CREAM - £5.00
Now I have been a Soap and Glory fan girl
for a very long time, but just recently, they are really draining my bank
balance with the release of their Sugar Crush range and their facial masks that
I love using in the summer. I first got Hand Food for Christmas a few years
ago, along with lots of other S&G goodies in one of their gift boxes. I
immediately fell in love with the masculine smell and the thick texture of the
cream, as my hands need all the help they can get in the winter. But since
then, I can’t help but go out and buy another S&G product every time I go
shopping!
I’ve tried lots of their scrubs, such as
Scrub ‘em and Leave ‘em and Flake Away, but The Breakfast Scrub has to be my
favourite (and, let’s face it, what a great film too). It smells just like
breakfast in the States – maple syrup, oatmeal, butter – what could be better
to wake up to? I usually use this on my elbows and knees in the shower to
soften them up. Just a little bit goes a long way and did I mention how amazing
this smells? Word of warning though, it may look like sugar and therefore
delicious, but it is not for consumption.
Staying on the theme of morning showers,
S&G’s Sugar Crush range is possibly my new favourite bathroom thing ever. I
bought the body wash about a week ago on the recommendation of one of Tanya
Burr’s YouTube videos and I am in love. It smells like key lime pie and has
left my skin feeling so smooth and moisturised. Some days I have just decided
not to moisturise because it’s a feeling that stays with you all day. If you
haven’t tried this product, I urge you, next time you’re in Boots, to go pick
up a bottle and smell it. It will change your life.
My last two products are face scrubs,
because if it’s as hot where you are as it is right now in England, then you’re
going to want a nice clear and clean face, ready to go forth into the sun and
tan. I got Scrub Your Nose In It in a birthday present from a friend with a
side note of ‘you have to try this, it’s the best face scrub ever’. So clearly
I had to give it a go. She wasn’t lying. Although it looks like toothpaste when
it comes out the tube, as a strong peppermint smell and a thick mint green
paste consistency, it feels really cleansing and fresh on your skin. You can
use it as a morning face scrub or, as I prefer, a face mask that you can leave
on and wash off to get rid of any nasty blackheads.
Lastly, I decided I wanted to try something
other than my sacred Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit cleanser, so I bought Face Soap
and Clarity. Much like Hand Food, I feel this smells quite masculine, which I
really like, but I don’t feel it smells very plum-like as stated. It contains
little pink beads which exfoliate your skin and, unlike face cleansers I’ve
tried before, this actually feels like it’s working. Not only does this give
you soft skin, but you only need a small blob of it as it’s quite a thick gel.
So that's pretty much it for my summer Soap and Glory picks! The whole brand can be found in most drugstores and is relatively inexpensive, especially compared to some of the more luxurious brands out there. But now I want to hear from you guys. Do you use S&G? What are your favourite products?
